Which O.C. city is due the most tax rebates?

The IRS estimates 31,207 Orange County residents may be eligible for this year’s tax rebate, with Anaheim leading in the number of potential recipients who have failed to file.

The would-be rebate recipients are retirees and disabled veterans who have so little income they usually don’t have to file taxes.  But they are still eligible for at least a $300 rebate if they received $3,000 last year from Social Security or in disabled veterans’ benefits.  They must, however, file a 2007 tax return — even if they didn’t owe taxes — to get the rebate.

The IRS says Anaheim has 3,913 residents who may be eligible, followed by Santa Ana with 3,509 and Huntington Beach with 2,368.  Here’s the full breakdown by O.C. community:
