Marcher Sara Barriga (above) helped lead chants during a demonstration by janitors in Santa Ana and Costa Mesa this afternoon. Janitors also took to the streets of Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland and San Diego as Service Employees International Union Local 1877 called “a statewide day of action to launch efforts to win a new contract with higher wages, access to health care and respect, among other issues,” the union said.

Marchers chanted slogans such as “Justice for Janitors” and “Arriba con la union, abajo la explotacion (Up with the union, down with exploitation)” on their way down Bristol Street and Anton Boulevard, and through the Performing Arts Center complex.

More than 20,000 of the state’s janitors in SEIU Local 1877 have contracts that are set to expire this April, the union said.

Well, at least they weren’t yelling “Si se puede” because nothing the Mexicans do pisses me off more than that.

  2. Mike Says:

Just fire them and get new ones any body can do that job

Hmmm… I think these janitors should be marching to “education” and “sex responsibility”, because if you have an education and dont pop out kids, you wont be relegated to vacuuming and emptying others trash cans your whole life.

So if anyone is out there, Know i am a 26 year old virgin and college graduate.

We all create own on path in life. So Plan Ahead!!!!!!

by gateway I mean “entry level” (like McDonald’s, you’re supposed to have this as a first job not a career) but it certainly also seems to gain a lot more people “gateway” access to this country.
